Grassroots Initiatives to Address Needs Together (GIANT)
At the IDEA Institute, we believe that everyone can contribute to engineering excellence.
The IDEA Institute supports scholarship, innovation, collaboration, and leadership that expand opportunities and strengthen our engineering community. The Grassroots Initiatives to Address Needs Together (GIANT) program enables teams of students, postdocs, staff and faculty to propose and implement research-based initiatives that foster collaborative problem-solving and create pathways for all aspiring engineers and scientists.

GIANT Project Selections
The GIANT program seeks proposals from teams (comprising undergraduates, graduates and/or faculty) that want to actively collaborate with engineering communities to jointly identify challenges and address them through innovative technical approaches. Selected projects will expand access pathways, measure effectiveness using rigorous metrics, document successful methodologies, and share results to strengthen the broader engineering ecosystem. See the list of the GIANT projects that have been funded through the years.
